A Custom Pair of Mirco RTX 7 Vinyl Bucket Seats Passing Through Our Showroom
Every now and then we get a set of seats through the showroom that stand out because of their simplicity. A recent customer ordered a pair of Mirco RTX 7 fibreglass bucket seats trimmed entirely in black vinyl with no logos or embroidery. It is a subtle specification that we do not often see in person, and the result is a very clean and understated design.
Before dispatch, all of our bespoke seats pass through our showroom for a quick inspection and quality check. This process ensures that everything arrives exactly as expected before the seats are sent to the customer. It also gives us the opportunity to see some of the more unique specifications that customers create through Mirco’s extensive customisation options.
With Mirco seats there are countless trim combinations available, so we are regularly seeing fresh designs come through the showroom. This particular pair stood out because of how minimal the design is. The full vinyl trim combined with the absence of logos gives the seat a very refined and subtle appearance that we had not previously seen in person.
Seeing these seats in store really highlights how well this configuration works. Without additional logos or contrasting trim materials, the natural shape of the seat becomes the main visual feature. The result is a very tidy and purposeful looking seat that could easily suit many different types of interiors, from dedicated track builds to more subtle road car projects.
Why Choose a Full Vinyl Trim
A full vinyl trim is a practical choice for many drivers, especially those who regularly deal with wet or dirty conditions. Mud, water, and dirt can easily end up on seats from clothing or from getting in and out of open top vehicles. Vinyl provides a tough and smooth surface that can simply be wiped clean.
Another advantage of vinyl is that it is far more resistant to the elements than many fabric materials. Fabric trims can absorb water or become stained when exposed to moisture and dirt. Vinyl avoids this problem by providing a waterproof surface that protects the seat and makes maintenance much easier.
One common concern with vinyl seats is that they can be more slippery than fabric trims. In the case of the Mirco RTX 7, this is much less of an issue because of the seat’s deep bucket design. The high leg supports and aggressive wrap around shoulder bolsters help keep the driver firmly in position, so grip and support are still excellent even with the smooth vinyl surface.

Seat Spotlight – The Mirco RTX 7 Vinyl Motorsport Seat
The Mirco RTX 7 is one of the more aggressive fibreglass bucket seats available in the Mirco range. It is designed with a deep bucket shape and strong shoulder supports to provide maximum lateral support for drivers pushing their car on track.
For customers who want the same configuration featured in this build, we have created a bespoke product listing with the full vinyl trim and no embroidery already applied. This allows customers to order the same clean specification without needing to configure the seat through the full custom options menu.
The seat itself is constructed from a fibreglass shell that provides a strong and lightweight structure. Combined with its deep side bolsters and five harness openings, the RTX 7 is designed to work with modern motorsport safety equipment while still remaining suitable for many performance road cars.
Key features of the Mirco RTX 7 include:
- Fibreglass shell construction
- Full vinyl trim option for durability and easy cleaning
- Five harness slots for multi point harness compatibility
- Deep bucketed seating position
- Aggressive wrap around shoulder bolsters
- FIA approved for motorsport use
- Strong lateral support for track driving
- Bespoke trim options available
Seat Dimensions and Driver Fitment
The Mirco RTX 7 has a distinctive shape that prioritises support around the driver’s upper body. Its widest point is at the shoulders, where the seat measures 600 mm across. This is wider than many bucket seats and can create clearance issues in smaller cars where the shoulder wings may contact the door cards.
Because of this, we always recommend measuring your interior space before ordering. Shoulder width is often the most critical dimension when fitting seats with integrated head and shoulder supports.
Although the seat is wide at the shoulders, it becomes much narrower lower down in the seat. At the hip area, it measures just 385 mm wide, which provides a snug and supportive driving position. Based on our experience, the RTX 7 tends to suit drivers with around a 30 to 36-inch waist.
Main seat measurements:
- Shoulder width: 600 mm
- Hip width: 385 mm
- Base width: 420 mm
- Seat depth: 615 mm
- Overall height: 920 mm
- Harness slot height: 645 mm
- Lower side width: 490 mm
- Backrest height: 620 mm
These measurements help give a clearer idea of how the seat may fit both the driver and the vehicle before installation.

Installation and Fitting Equipment
Like all fibreglass motorsport bucket seats, the Mirco RTX 7 is side mounted only. This means the seat bolts to a pair of side mounts that attach to the mounting frame or sliding runners underneath.
When paired with universal side mounts, the seat can be installed using a 345 mm wide sliding runner kit. This creates an adjustable seating position, which is useful for road cars or casual track day builds where multiple drivers may use the vehicle.
However, sliding runners are generally not recommended for competitive motorsport applications. For race builds the seat is normally bolted directly to the side mounts without sliders for the strongest possible installation.
The 345 mm bolt pattern used with these seats is widely supported across the aftermarket. Many vehicle specific seat frames from brands such as Sparco, OMP, Corbeau, and Planted Technology are designed around this standard, making it easier to integrate the seat into a wide range of vehicles.
