Understanding Roll Cage Availability and Production Times

Ordering a roll cage is an important part of building a track or competition car, and it’s something that takes planning. At GSM Performance, we supply cages from several of the leading brands across the UK and Europe, and many of these products are made to order. If you’re considering purchasing a roll cage, this guide will help you understand how the process works, from production times and lead times to updates, delivery, and what to expect after you place your order.

Safety Devices Roll Cages

Safety Devices roll cages are manufactured in the UK and are known for their high-quality construction, competition-level approval, and wide range of vehicle-specific options. These cages are produced to order, and because of that, they follow a structured production queue.

  • Current lead time: approx. 10 weeks from order confirmation
  • Made in: United Kingdom
  • Production schedule: Once your order is confirmed, your cage is placed into a build slot. Safety Devices runs scheduled batches based on model demand and availability.

These cages are extremely popular for classic and modern vehicles alike, so it’s important to order early if you’re working to a build timeline.

Custom Cages

SW Motorsport Roll Cages

SW Motorsport produces high-quality cages primarily for popular platforms including BMW, Ford, and other common track-day vehicles. Each cage is made to order and TIG-welded with precision for strength and safety.

  • Current lead time: approx. 6 weeks
  • Made in: United Kingdom
  • Production schedule: Built to customer order and slotted into weekly manufacturing runs.

SW Motorsport’s streamlined manufacturing ensures a consistent delivery window once your order is placed.

JP Cages

JP Cages provides fully certified cages and offers options for many Japanese and European performance platforms. They provide both bolt-in and weld-in designs and are used in road-legal track builds and grassroots motorsport.

  • Current lead time: approx. 4–6 weeks
  • Made in: United Kingdom
  • Production schedule: Scheduled in based on cage type and demand, usually confirmed with a date within 1 week of ordering.

JP Cages are known for their strong delivery reliability and rapid turnaround on most vehicle platforms.

Sparco Roll Cages

Sparco roll cages are premium options designed with both safety and design in mind. These are generally ordered for FIA-level race cars and vehicles where a factory Sparco motorsport link exists.

  • Current lead time: approx. 10 weeks
  • Made in: Italy
  • Production schedule: Ordered direct from Sparco and entered into their European production cycle once confirmed.

Due to their international manufacturing, Sparco cages can take slightly longer to dispatch but are built to exceptional standards.

OMP Roll Cages

OMP also builds their cages in Italy and focuses heavily on track-proven safety. Their bolt-in cages are widely used in tarmac rally, hill climb, and road-legal track builds.

  • Current lead time: approx. 10 weeks
  • Made in: Italy
  • Production schedule: Entered into the OMP production system once confirmed, built in timed manufacturing batches.

OMP’s lead times are consistent, but as an imported product, it can sometimes take a little longer in busy periods due to logistics.

Cybul Roll Cages

Cybul roll cages are made in Poland and offer exceptional value for money. These cages are precision-built and are becoming increasingly popular in grassroots competition and drift builds.

  • Current lead time: approx. 6 weeks
  • Made in: Poland
  • Production schedule: Built to order with clear scheduling on batch production and shipping.

Cybul cages are carefully crated for shipping and transferred across Europe to our suppliers or directly to customers.

How We Keep You Updated

We’ve built our roll cage ordering process to be as clear and transparent as possible. Here’s what you can expect once you place your order:

  • Pending Confirmation: Once your order is placed, we confirm the full cage spec with the manufacturer. At this stage, your order is entered into their production queue.
  • In Production: Your cage is now in progress. It has been booked with the manufacturer and will be fabricated in line with their schedule.
  • Distribution Incoming: Your cage has been built and is now moving to the distribution centre. This step signals that it’s almost ready for dispatch.
  • Distribution Dispatch / Collection: Once your cage reaches distribution, you’ll be contacted directly by the manufacturer or delivery provider to arrange either collection or shipping — depending on which delivery option you selected at checkout.

At each step, we’ll send updates by email to keep you informed. You’ll always know what stage your cage is at and what’s coming next.

FAQ – Common Customer Questions

Can I collect a roll cage from your showroom?
No. Our Nottingham showroom is not set up to handle large palletised roll cage products. All cages are dispatched directly from the manufacturers or their UK distribution points.

Can I request quicker delivery?
No. Roll cages are placed into set production queues. Once confirmed, they are manufactured in strict order. We cannot expedite any manufacturer’s production schedule.

Where are these cages made?
Most of our roll cages are made in the UK or Europe, including Italy (OMP, Sparco), Poland (Cybul), and the UK (Safety Devices, SW Motorsport, Custom Cages, JP Cages).

Why are cages made to order?
Due to the range of fitments, safety approvals, and design variations available, most roll cages are not mass-produced. Cages are fabricated to order to ensure the correct fitment, materials, and finish for your vehicle and spec.
