Which Is Right For You? Corbeau Revenge VS Revolution
Your questions, November 2022
The Corbeau Revenge and Corbeau Revolution sit side by side on our display, and they are easy to confuse. Both are FIA bucket seats with large head supports, and both were updated by Corbeau this year with harder wearing material in the places that take the most contact.
Here is what they share, where they differ, and the one thing to check before you choose either.
- Both on display in the showroom, with their XL versions
- Both FIA 8855-1999, fibreglass, with large head supports
- Both have five harness slots and are HANS compatible
- Standard versions are listed for a 32 to 36 inch waist
- Both have short backs, so we do not suggest them for drivers over 6ft
- Revenge about 8.7 kg, Revolution about 8.5 kg

What the two seats share
Both are approved to FIA 8855-1999 and built on a fibreglass shell, with deep sides, large thigh and shoulder supports and head supports that stop you moving about in the car. Both have five harness slots and are HANS compatible, so a 6 point harness and a head and neck restraint go with them. The trims are fabric, with more durable material on the contact areas.
Our listings give the standard width of each seat for a 32 to 36 inch waist, and both come in an XL version for larger drivers. Each can also be ordered in three shell materials, from fibreglass up to carbon fibre for the lightest seat. We keep the fibreglass versions in the showroom.
Where they differ
The Corbeau Revenge X is Corbeau’s all round FIA seat, used across most kinds of motorsport. It has deep side supports, energy absorbing foam, a five slot harness setup and a two piece thigh cushion for comfort. It weighs about 8.7 kg.
The Corbeau Revolution X is Corbeau’s head protection seat, shaped to keep your peripheral vision open. Corbeau updated it with small detail changes and new homologation, and it weighs about 8.5 kg.
The best way to feel the difference is to sit in both. The shape round your shoulders and head is what will decide it.
Why height matters with both
Both seats have fairly short backs. For a driver over 6ft, or with a long torso, the shoulders end up above the shoulder supports, and the head support no longer lines up with the head. The seat then cannot stop the sideways movement it is designed to stop.
When we put a driver of 5ft 10in with a 32 inch waist in the Revolution, the shoulders and head sat right in the supports. That is what a good fit looks like: the seat should hold you firmly enough that you do not slide side to side.
Garreth’s advice is to send us your height and waist before ordering either seat, and we will say whether the standard, the XL or a different shell suits you better. Our guide to bucket seats for tall drivers covers the alternatives, and base mount or side mount explains the fitting.
