The Recaro Sportster CS Performance Edition Fitted

One of our customers has just fitted a Recaro Sportster CS reclining sport seat to their car, and it looks great. This is not the standard seat: it is the Performance Edition, which has its own trim and a much sportier look.
You do not see many Performance Editions about, so we wanted to share the photos, along with what makes this version different and how a Sportster CS goes into a car.

What makes the Performance Edition different
The Performance Edition takes the Sportster CS and gives it a unique custom trim. Red stripes run down both sides of the seat from top to bottom, and the headrest and side panels are trimmed in carbon effect leather.
The centres are deep black Dinamica, finished with white contrasting seams. It keeps the familiar Sportster CS shape and makes it look a lot more purposeful, and in our customer’s car it really lifts the interior.
Underneath the trim, it is the same Sportster CS. The reclining shell is a hybrid construction of steel and polymer materials, such as carbon, Kevlar and GRP. The upholstery is firm, which gives the driver a good feel for the road, and the well defined side bolsters hold you in place through a corner.
The headrest is fully integrated and upholstered. The backrest release and adjustment are on both sides of the seat, so it is easy to operate from either side of the car.
Fitting a Sportster CS
Every Sportster CS is base mounted, so it needs a sliding runner kit, a base frame, or both, to fix it safely to the floor of the car. The double locking Recaro sliding runners work well, and so does any vehicle specific Recaro base frame, because they share the same bolt pattern.
Planted Technology frames are another option. They have plenty of bolting points and are compatible with the Sportster CS, which opens up more cars to it. The wider Recaro recliner range
The Sportster CS is one of several Recaro reclining sport seats, and each comes in a range of colours and trims to suit an existing interior. Recaro also use a material called Ambla, which is not real leather but is very close to it in look and quality, at a lower cost. It is a popular choice with our customers.
