This is TRS’s harness for single-seater racing cars: Formula Ford, Formula Vee, Legends, and similar. The installation method is different from a saloon car harness. Single-seater harnesses bolt through the seat using fixing plates rather than clipping onto eyebolts in the chassis or wrapping around a cage bar. Part number 21F625.

The shoulder straps use 8mm bolt-in fixing plates that go through the seat back. The lap and sub straps use 8mm pinch plates. This bolt-through-the-seat approach is the standard method for a moulded race seat without traditional chassis anchor points behind it, and it is what single-seater scrutineers expect to see when they check the harness installation.

Pro specification: 3 inch (75mm) shoulder straps tapering to 2 inch at the HANS shoulder anchors, 2 inch (50mm) lap and sub straps. Superlite aluminium adjusters on the shoulders come as standard on this version. FIA 8853-2016. HANS Specific; requires a HANS or FHR device. Aircraft rotary buckle.

If your class regulations specify a particular type of fixing plate, or if your seat takes a different bolt size, check with the class organisers before ordering. Formula series scrutineering varies and some classes approve the fixing method separately from the harness homologation itself. The 8mm fixing plates on this harness are TRS standard; they cover most single-seater seats but not every variation. At £295, this is a six-point FIA HANS single-seater harness at a similar price to the equivalent saloon Magnum Ultralite.

How long does an FIA harness last?

Yes, and this is the right type: a 6-point FIA harness with the HANS-specific shoulder cut, made to sit correctly over the device. Only 6-point FIA harnesses work with a HANS device, so this belt qualifies on both counts.
