The Takata Race GT86 Bucket Seat Package includes a Takata Race LE competition bucket seat with GT86-specific side mount brackets and a Takata Drift III Snap-On harness. This package fits the ZN6-platform GT86 produced from 2012 to 2021.

The GT86 takes its name partly from its 86mm cylinder bore. Toyota’s D-4S injection system on the FA20 flat-four combined direct and port injection to produce a relatively flat torque curve for a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre, unusual for a car designed around throttle response over outright torque. At 1250kg, the GT86 sits around 100kg below most contemporary cars of similar power, which is why the platform performs well in circuit work where power-to-weight balance matters as much as the absolute figure. The car was a joint development with Subaru and shares the same platform as the BRZ.

The Drift III harness included is Road and Track approved, not FIA competition legal. For GT86 track day use at venues that do not require FIA harness certification, the Drift III is the correct choice. For events with FIA harness requirements, the harness would need upgrading.

What do I need to fit it to my car?

How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike. We keep the ranges on display in the showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.

Availability

The harnesses are stocked, the seats are not

Takata harnesses are produced in batches and we take deliveries weekly, so belts like the Drift III are generally kept in stock for fast dispatch.

Takata seats are a different matter. Each one is handmade to order to Takata specification and takes 4 to 8 weeks. They are not stocked items.

A seat built for your order falls under our special order terms. Tell us your date when you enquire and we will confirm the current production time.

In-store displays:

Alongside this, we also stock and display HANS devices, harnesses, race-wear, race-suits, FIA helmets and various other safety equipment. If you are looking to visit us to see and try any particular seat or product, please contact us in advance and we’ll be happy to help.

Due to the specialist nature of our services, we do ask that you please contact us in advance to book an appointment. We have multiple slots available each day including selected availability at the weekend.

Working by appointment allows us to dedicate our time with you and provide a personal and professional service. We’ll always ensure you leave with the right equipment for your needs.
