The Vauxhall Calibra ran from 1990 to 1997 and shared its floor and running gear with the Cavalier Mk3. The 2.0-litre 16-valve and the Turbo 4×4 are the versions with a motorsport reputation, and the Calibra Turbo with its intercooled 204bhp engine was competitive in touring car racing in the mid-1990s. The Calibra C20XE in naturally aspirated form also turns up in sprint events. Despite sharing the Cavalier Mk3 platform, the Calibra’s coupe body sits considerably lower and the roof height difference means headroom changes significantly compared to the Cavalier saloon. The different body structure also places the floor fixings at different points, so the Cavalier Mk3 sub-frame is not a substitute here.
This Corbeau sub-frame is matched to the Calibra’s specific floor fixing layout. The lower seating position in the coupe body means the mounting geometry has been developed separately from the Cavalier Mk3 kit. The sub-frame uses the original bolt points, and the configuration may be a complete replacement frame with sliding runner or an adaptation bracket arrangement.
