Subaru Impreza With Recaro STi Seats On Planted Technology Brackets

We recently supplied a customer with a set of Planted Technology seat brackets so a pair of Recaro STi reclining sport seats could go into a Subaru Impreza. The photos show how well it has come out.
The seats are trimmed in grey Alcantara with carbon backs, and they look right at home in the car. The extra support over the original Subaru seats will make a big difference on track.

The car and the seats
The seats are Recaro STi reclining sport seats, with grey Alcantara faces and carbon shell backs. They are a big step up in support from the standard seats, and because they recline, the car stays comfortable on the road as well.
What makes a job like this work is the bracket. A seat from one car does not simply bolt into another, so something has to join the seat’s mounting points to the car’s floor. That is where the Planted Technology brackets come in.
Planted brackets are made in steel for a specific car and bolt to the car's floor mounting points. The seat then bolts to the bracket.
Brackets are handed, one for the driver's side and one for the passenger's, and they are made for a given model and year range, so the right one depends on exactly which Impreza you have.
The bracket up close
From underneath you can see how the bracket works: a flat plate that picks up the seat's runners, with feet at each corner that line up with the car's floor mounts. The whole assembly bolts together.
Garreth's advice is to get the seat and the bracket confirmed together before you order either, because the seat decides one side of the bracket and the car decides the other.
