Ratchet or cam-buckle lashing straps for securing a car on a trailer or transporter. These are 50mm (2 inch) wide, 2 metres long, rated to 1500kg working load limit, with claw hooks at each end. Part number 23L5030.
The claw hook style catches under a chassis rail, subframe, or trailer tie-down rail and holds position better than an open J-hook, which can lift off at an angle under load. Use a minimum of four straps per car, one per corner. The correct method is to run the straps forward and inward to the trailer rails so the car cannot move fore, aft, or sideways under braking or acceleration from the towing vehicle. Two straps pulling rearward and two pulling forward keeps the car locked in all directions.
The 1500kg WLL covers most club racing and track day cars. Check the working load limit against the axle weights of the car being transported, not just the total vehicle weight. A car with most of its weight over the rear axle may put 700kg or more on two rear straps, so the WLL per strap must exceed that figure. For a heavier car, or one loaded with spares and ballast, the 2200kg version (MA600-0002) is the safer choice.
At £9.95 each, four straps costs under £40 to equip a single-car trailer. Two metres is the standard transport strap length for most single-car trailers. If your trailer has high mounting rails that make the 2 metre strap tight to reach at the correct angle, the 2200kg version is also available in 3 metres.
