The Custom Cages Subaru Impreza 2/4DR GC8 “Optima” International Multipoint T45 Roll Cage Kit is FIA, and MSUK Compliant. Your roll cage will arrive shrink wrapped in durable black plastic and will include:
- CNC formed tubes for the main hoop, A pillar hoops etc with square and profiled ends are necessary.
- Straight tubes with profiled ends ready for welding into place.
- Set of footplates.
- Check list (every tube has an identifying sticker) so you can be sure you have a complete kit (we will have already have checked that you have the right tubes twice before the kit is packed).
- Instructions sheet.
- CD showing the fully fitted roll cage.
Key Features:
- Optimised tube sizes and geometry to give best weight to strength ratio.
- Made in T45 high tensile tube.
- All tubes with laser profiled ends and CNC bent.
- Excellent side impact protection with hoop cross, dash bar and cross door bars.
- Mounts on rear suspension mounts and front turrets.
- Harness bar across rear turrets.
This roll cage is designed for use in the following models:
- Subaru Impreza 2/4DR GC8 “Optima”
Multipoint (weld-in) roll cage:
These have a minimum of 8 point attachments.
Please note, HOWEVER – Because our roll cage will fit very closely to the body-shell it would be normal practice to weld the cage to the shell in at least an additional 8 or 10 places, (and sometimes many more) making a minimum of 16 points.
Weld-in roll cage kit:
Our weld-in kits are supplied with all the parts you need to fit a roll cage.
All the tubes are pre-cut and profiled to fit.
They come complete with the footplates that get welded to the car, as well as all relevant gussets.
FIA Certificated Cages:
Fully certificated roll-cage designs give a distinct advantage over roll-cages constructed to minimum compliance as they are constructed using a small diameter / thinner gauge tube, thus giving a considerable weight saving.
Depending on the make & model, a fully certificated roll cage gives you the ability to compete in FIA International events and feature the following:
- A certificated design is manufactured to meet the FIA / MSUK Roll Cage Homologation Regulations.
- Usually, a ‘Multi-point’ design which adds stiffness and strength to the bodyshell.
- These are almost always a ‘weld-in’ cage which is lighter and stiffer than a ‘bolt-in’ cage.
- The designs are stress tested to prove their integrity and geometry, and tube sizes are optimised to give the best strength-to-weight ratio.
- We always use high-tensile tube for these designs (normally T45, which has a tensile strength of min. 700 Mpa) to further enhance their advantages.
- An FIA / MSUK certificated roll cage is accepted worldwide and enables competitors to run in any FIA-sanctioned event.
- Can be as much as 20 kg lighter than an MSUK compliant design.
- When correctly installed, they add value and saleability to a vehicle.
- They are authorised in the UK by MSUK (the MSA as was), but the certificates are still referred to as FIA papers.
- These regulations are constantly evolving, so new designs have to reflect these changes.
MSUK Compliant – See our ‘National’ range:
The roll cage will be made using the minimum MSUK prescribed tube sizes – thicker gauge than we would use in a certificated design, and, so (unfortunately) heavier.
Usually, these are manufactured from CDS (Cold Drawn Seamless) tube – ours is a high tensile material with a minimum tensile strength of 510 Mpa – although T45 can be specified at extra cost.
These cages are eligible for all MSUK events.
A roll cage design must comply with the MSA/FIA technical regulations published in the MS UK Blue book. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure his/her roll cage complies with the technical regulations appropriate to the event they are competing in.
To obtain a certificate for a self-fit roll cage, the installer must complete a Custom Cages weld test. Custom Cages’ roll cage kits include a weld test sample. Once completed these are returned to the company for load testing. They are subjected to a physical test to assess the actual yield strength of the weld. This ensures that the self-fit roll cages achieve the highest standards of integrity. Additional samples may be requested, and Certificates will only be issued on completion of a successful test.
Please be aware that there is a charge of £60.00 + VAT for all MS UK / FIA Certificate.
