Still based on the T5’s 7H / 7J platform, the T6 came with a wide range of updates, including a completely new dashboard layout along with new cosmetic changes to the tailgate / rear doors and rear lights. (2016-present). During that time we’ve seen literally hundreds of modified Transporters visit us for upgrades. We’ve got you covered when it comes to upgrading the look of your interior.
We usually start upgrading seats to provide more support on faster cornering , however, with the Transporter T6, we’ve found it comes down to increasing the level of comfort, support, design and style.
The recommendations we provide are to ensure that you feel comfortable and supported, but also provide that design flare we know most T6 drivers are after. Why upgrade your seats if they don’t look fantastic?
Important Note about Swivel bases
Customer question: "Can I use aftermarket seats with a swivel base in a Transporter T6?"
This is one of the most common questions we get from Transporter T6 owners, and it is an important one to clarify before choosing seats or fitting kits. In short, aftermarket sports seats and bucket seats are not compatible with swivel base systems in the Transporter T6. This applies to both reclining sports seats and fixed-back bucket seats, regardless of brand.
Swivel bases are designed specifically around the original factory seat frames. They rely on the height, footprint, and mounting geometry of the OEM seat to function correctly. Once that original seat is removed, the swivel mechanism has nothing compatible to attach to.
Aftermarket seats use completely different mounting standards. Most are either bottom-mounted using universal bolt patterns or side-mounted using fixed brackets. Swivel bases require a flat, structural seat base with specific load paths, which aftermarket seats simply do not provide.
