Founded on 1 October 1906 by Wilhelm Reutter as Stuttgarter Carosserie und Radfabrik, the company became known for building limousine bodies at first during the 1920s. In 1963 Recaro’s focus shifted to high end seats starting with OEM seats for porches and a separate line of after market seats. Recaro presented their first sport seat in 1965 and has been making high end sport seats ever since.Â
